Dyslexia assessments for higher education

Accessing the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) for Dyslexia

If you are thinking of going to University applying for DSA could mean that you’re entitled to new equipment and technology that will help you reach your full potential as an undergraduate student. It is necessary that you have a diagnostic dyslexia assessment before applying for the DSA as the assessment report will be evidence of your needs.

You can complete the assessment and application process before the course begins, which will make life easier as your application can take a while to process.

Applying for DSA can be a lengthy process, however, you will be able to get support through your university’s dyslexia or disability support advisor.

You can find more details on how to claim DSA here:  https://www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowance-dsa/how-to-claim

Your Dyslexia First Assessment will serve as your supporting medical evidence in your DSA application. These two videos explain more and will guide you through the process.
